Located in the heart of Selkirk, Roxi’s Uptown Café has been a local favourite for almost twenty years.
The history of the restaurant, located at 219 Manitoba Avenue, dates back long before it was named Roxi’s. In the 1960s a hotel, part of the Gordon Hotel chain, was built on the site. Since the hotel first opened it has always had a Beverage room and served food. The hotel was bought by Kaspar and Jeanne Szmigelski in 1973 and renamed to the Selkirk Motor Hotel. It went through a few more hands until 2005 when the Bohemier family (Denis, Linda, and Roxanne) bought the hotel and restaurant.
Roxanne has been the manager of the restaurant since January 2008. In July 2010 Diane Brick was hired to assist Roxanne in running the restaurant.

In 2008 the Restaurant was called Roxi’s Restaurant, after Roxanne herself. In the mid-2010s it was renamed to Roxi’s Uptown Café. Around 2018 the premises was once again renamed, this time to Roxi’s Uptown Café on the Red. Its current name is Roxi’s by the Red Uptown Café.

In 2012 the restaurant got a major renovation which included enlarging the dining area and adding an outdoor patio area. There is also a Bar and Nite club on the premises, run by Shannon Green since May 2006. After renovations in 2012 the bar was renamed On the Rocks and is accessible from Superior Avenue.
During the first years that Roxi’s was opened it frequently did a movie and dinner special on weekend evenings. Patrons would get dinner at the restaurant and then head next door to the Garry Theater to watch a movie.
Roxi’s has always been a strong supporter of community events. The cafe “sparkles” during the annual Holiday Alley. Holiday Alley is a four-day festival in November celebrating art, culture, and creativity in the historic downtown of Selkirk.
In early 2023, the Roxi’s on the Red Uptown Cafe changed ownership, but the restaurant is still operating under the same name.
