In 2012, based on recommendations set out in the Capturing our Shared Heritage vision paper, Selkirk City Council established the Selkirk Heritage Endowment Fund (SHEF) to create a strong and sustainable base of funding to support a future municipal museum for the City of Selkirk.
The SHEF is held and professionally managed by the charitable Selkirk & District Community Foundation. Donations made to the SHEF are invested and held in perpetuity. The annual income generated by the fund is currently granted to the Marine Museum of Manitoba. Once the Selkirk Museum is formally incorporated, the SHEF income will be used to support its operations.
